In creative news, my new album is recorded and mixed. I turned around to start a crowdfunding campaign to push it over the finish line and realized it was almost December. Not an ideal month to build out any ideas. So, after stomping around a bit trying to weigh the options, I decided to put it all aside for a few months. I forced the issue before and ended up unhappy with results. The sheer amount of time, coupled with the number of others involved, well…. I couldn’t risk rushing something so important to me. I’d been struggling to come up with ideas for tiers of those wishing to support this project. The moment I decided February or March for crowdfunding, a couple ideas popped up into my lizard brain: a live EP, maybe a retrospective collection to help catch up new listeners, original art. Something about patience, something about virtues. Blah blah blah.

Today is the first morning that has felt like winter. That photo above is from about an hour ago as..of..THIS…writing. Its onset has been so gradual. But I feel more of an excuse to hunker down and get moving on new things. I keep ruminating on a return to my Big E Radio show Stranger Mixtape to put together some music playlists for people to enjoy over the winter months. I might do a few more of my naughtier drawings, but I’ve also felt this urge to draw trees n shit? Haven’t attempted a sketchy nature boy walk in ages. We’ll see! I also want to start on the visual aspect of this new album. I want to have something for people to look at for each of the new songs, and I have a little team gathering who are into this plan. That’s going to be interesting. In addition, I’ve started to put out feelers for making new music. I’ve reached out to a couple musicians I’ve admired for some time, and both are in, which always leads to a couple weeks of me making incredulous sounds: ‘Huh!’ and ‘Ugh’ and ‘Hmm…’

So! February, I think, for a crowdfunding (and a shorter month so I know sooner), then *fingers crossed* if successful, release The Compassion Dial in April, along with, hopefully, a bunch of visuals on YouTube to accompany the album proper. In the meantime, work, work, glorious work.

A postscript: returning to ‘longform’ writing has really helped clearing the decks. It’s like shovelling a walk after a heavy snow. Thanks to everyone reading, and for the feedback. I'll never check my grammar, tenses, spelling, so for that, and only that, will I say sorry. But I’m not, really. Thank you!
